Rythm sticks at the ready

Wednesday, 11 April 2012

PUPILS at Whitchurch Primary School took part in the school’s annual Unchained Melody Competition and Rhythm Sticks Competition recently.
These competitions require the children to play at least 16 bars without music.
The Rhythm Sticks Competition (drumming) was won by Lauren Siddall in year five and the Unchained Melody Competition was won by Lucie Prior in year six, playing her flute.
Fifty pupils took part in the competitions this year and all entrants were awarded a certificate.
Thanks were expressed to Dr Tony Evans for presenting the prizes and to Sarah Pappin, head of music at Tavistock College, and a team of sixth form students from the college who were the judges. Thanks were also expressed to Karen Higginson for organising the event.
